Introduction and features PData is an utility for transfering both binary and text files between the C64/C128 and the Amiga. It's faster than a null modem cable and it doesn't even fill your Amiga's serial port. While using PData for transfering files, you can use your modem for other purposes. After all, Amiga is THE multitasking computer. You can transfer up to 255 files both directions in multi transfer mode. PData is easy to use and it won't let you down like most others. * Last minute note by Mysti: The cable is able up to speed of 4000cps!! * * Two things which are slowing the transfers down to 900cps are * * 1541 (and compatibles) and Amiga end, which has no cache at all... * * The development of PData has came to it's end. New program versions * * will be called XData. Versions 1.?? will have no major differences * * compared to PData. Versions 2.?? will have following features: * * Much improved Amiga end (new coder), disk turbo to c64 end (should * * increase performance over 200%), protocol for batch transfers etc etc.* 2. Requirements The C64 end of PData will work in every C64/C128. The Amiga end of PData will work in every model, but Kickstart v37.175 (v2.04) or above is required for utilizing every function. A special cable between the C64 and the Amiga is required. It can be built by following the schematic in the next chapter. The following things are required for the cable: - One card edge connector (C64 user port) - One male D-25 connector (Amiga parallel port) - Suitable lenght of flat cable (Width 12) - A soldering iron and some solder 9.
